SVG to WBMP Converter FAQs

This is an extremely specialized conversion used almost exclusively for supporting obsolete hardware. The WBMP format was created for the very first internet-enabled mobile phones in the late 1990s. You would only use this tool if you are absolutely required to create a graphic for one of those specific, ancient devices.

Both the scalability and color information of your SVG are completely lost. The converter will first rasterize your infinitely scalable vector into a fixed-size grid of pixels. Then, it will reduce all the colors in your design to either pure black or pure white, discarding all original color and grayscale data.

The WBMP format does not support transparency of any kind. During the conversion, your SVG's transparent background will be lost and completely replaced with a solid, opaque color, which is almost always white. The final image will be flat with no clear areas.

To get the best possible result from this conversion, your source SVG should be extremely simple. The ideal graphic would already be a high-contrast, black-and-white design with no complex shapes, gradients, or fine details. A colorful or intricate SVG will be very difficult for the converter to interpret cleanly.

Yes, for any modern purpose, creating a monochrome PNG is a vastly superior choice. A PNG file is universally supported by all software and web browsers, it can have proper transparency, and it uses more efficient compression. A WBMP is not a practical or compatible choice for any new project today.
